TITLE:
FY 24 Historic Facade and Signs Grant Funding Overview
STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Discussion and direction to staff
Executive Summary:
In past years obligated money from the Historic Signs and Facades Grant was carried forward to the next fiscal year. Money was not carried forward in Fiscal Year 2025 (FY 25). As a result, some grants were approved in FY 24 and have not yet been paid. these grants are obligated against the $160,000 available for grants this fiscal year.
Financial Impact:
In FY 24, there were 8 grants awarded with a combined value of $83,310. One extension of $10,000 was provided for a grant awarded the previous year. Of these grants, $18,310 were paid with FY24 funds, and $20,000 were submitted but have yet to be paid out. $25,000 in grants expired without disbursement, $15,000 of which could be eligible for a one-year extension. This means there are $75,000 of current grant obligations that carried over to FY 25, and $15,000 more if the extensions are requested and approved for the grants that expired in July.
Given these obligations, there are between $95,000 to $110,000 of funds available for new grant applications. $20,000 was awarded at the July 2024 Commission Meeting for the Sego Lily House at 615 W Birch Avenue.

Policy Impact:
Prior to the COVID pandemic, it was typical for all grants to be obligated by March and grants requested later in the year were granted at the April-June meeting with a start date of July 1.
