Executive Summary:
If all approvals are made at this meeting, the remaining balance will be $15,000 for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Financial Impact:
Staff is working to bring an update on how to address this in the next budget cycle with the finance department.
Policy Impact:
Grants are an important incentive for quality historic preservation work. Prior to 2020, it was not unusual to obligate all grants in the first half of the year. Since many applicants can take months to get other planning and building safety approvals, staff can work to stay in touch with interested property owners and informal them when the commission is ready to take new applications. Staff recommends pausing grant applications until March 2025 once all funds have been obligated, unless other grants are paid out early and under budget.
