An Introduction to Virtual Power Purchase Agreements.
 

Virtual power purchase agreements (VPPA) are becoming an increasingly popular way for organizations to achieve their clean energy goals while stabilizing pricing.  This presentation will provide information on the VPPA framework and how it may align with the City's clean energy goals.  This presentation is intended to provide the City Council with an understanding of VPPAs in advance of the September 2, 2025, City Council meeting. At the September meeting, staff will bring forward an Intergovernmental Agreement with Northern Arizona University and other statewide collaborators to issue a non-binding VPPA solicitation that explores more cost-effective options for the City. 

 

This presentation will provide the City Council with background information on the City's existing clean energy commitments and how a virtual power purchase agreement may compliment them.
