8.B.
City Council Meeting - FINAL
Meeting Date:
08/25/2026
Co-Submitter:
Mark Wilson
From:
Jessica Vigorito, Fire Administration Manager

TITLE:

Consideration and Approval of Cooperative Contract: Purchase of specialized fire and safety equipment from LN Curtis & Sons not to exceed $115,000.

STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:

  1. Approve the Cooperative Purchase Contract with LN Curtis & Sons for a one-time purchase of specialized fire and safety equipment for the new Quint not to exceed $115,000; and
  2. Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents.

Executive Summary:

This would allow the Flagstaff Fire Department to purchase necessary specialized fire and safety equipment through LN Curtis & Sons for the new Quint. This request is for a one-time purchase of equipment for a new unit. The equipment the Flagstaff Fire Department is purchasing is typically a very specialized type or would be a replacement to match existing equipment for familiarity.

Financial Impact:

The Flagstaff Fire Department will only purchase equipment within the approved budget in any given year. Utilizing the Cooperative Purchase Contract will allow the Flagstaff Fire Department to obtain better pricing through the underlying cooperative purchase contract. The funding source is the impact fees account (003-03-051-0203-2-4403, funding in 4401). City Purchasing Staff found that LN Curtis & Sons has a cooperative purchase contract as part of their Sourcewell Agreement #020124 to supply materials. The City will be utilizing this cooperative purchase contract to ensure the best pricing when the Fire Department purchases necessary equipment.

Policy Impact:

None

Previous Council Decision or Community Discussion:

There have been prior council meetings for similar purchases but not related to this purchase directly.

Options and Alternatives to Recommended Action:

  1. Adopt the Cooperative Purchase Contract with LN Curtis & Sons not to exceed $115,000; or
  2. Direct the Flagstaff Fire Department to solicit and purchase each piece of specialized fire and safety equipment.

Background and History:

Sourcewell Contract #020124 is current, Statement of Work covers the City's purchase, and there is cooperative language in the contract.
