Interaction between the City Council and commissions is important and necessary to share information and recommendations. With a Councilmember assigned to various commissions it is believed that communication and information sharing can be improved. Each Councilmember assigned to a commission will be responsible for gathering information from the commission and reporting back to the Council during their meetings.

The commissions selected for appointment are based on the frequency in which they meet and if they already have a Council assignment statutorily. A list of all boards and commissions has been attached for review should Council wish to appoint a representative not included in the staff recommendation.

On June 11, 2019 the City Council decided that having a Councilmember Representative assigned to a board or commission would improve the quality of interactions between the Council and its various boards and commissions. Council gave direction to bring back a list of boards and commissions for Council to discuss and make assignments.
