Executive Summary:
City Council discussed public safety needs during their budget retreats in January 2025 and supported the exploration of a ballot measure and a Citizens Committee in September 2025. City staff met with Citizen Committee members from November 2025 through May 2026 which led to the Committee’s recommendation of a 0.5% (or half cent for every dollar) sales tax and $40 million general obligation bond to meet the highest priority needs in Fire, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, Police, and Emergency Management.
