STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Discussion and Vote.
Executive Summary:
At the September 24th Sustainability Commission meeting, the Commission voted to create an informal Climate Goals Working Group to research, discuss, and bring findings back to the full Commission on potential recommendations to update Flagstaff's climate goals as part of the broader Carbon Neutrality Plan update. The Working Group met twice since the September Commission meeting and will lead a discussion on their findings. The full Sustainability Commission will then consider and vote on whether to recommend an update to Flagstaff's climate goals to the Flagstaff City Council. If the Committee votes to update the climate goals, the Committee will need to draft and approve a formal recommendation to the City Council. The Commission can either approve the letter in advance at this meeting, or they can approve the letter during the November 2026 Commission meeting.
