Debrief the FY14 Budget Process
DESIRED OUTCOME:
Provide guidance related to improvements to the budget formulation process for FY15
INFORMATION:
The purpose of this agenda item is to review the process used with City Council to develop the Fiscal Year 2013 Budget. The City Manager seeks your input on what worked, what didn't work, what you would like to see different in the FY15 Budget Process. In order to facilitate this debrief, the following questions and ideas are submitted for your consideration:
1. Did the review at the Fund level rather than at the Division or Section level work?
2. What about the mini budget retreats worked?
3. Was the information provided for the April Budget Retreat sufficient and in a usable format?
4. Would you be amenable to starting the Budget process with a review of Division accomplishments and objectives that are published in the Final Budget book?
5. Did you find the Budget aligned with Council goals?
