Consideration and Ratification of Letter of Support: HELPER Act
STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Retroactively approve the letter of support.
Executive Summary:
City staff received a request to voice the City’s support for the HELPER Act, which would establish a home loan program within the Federal Housing Administration to make homeownership more affordable for law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and preK-12 teachers. This request is supported by the City's Housing team and falls under the City’s federal Affordable Housing legislative priority. The letter was sent to House Speaker Johnson, House Democrat Leader Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader Thune and Senate Democrat Leader Schumer.
