Consideration of Appointments: Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals
 

1. Councilmember House to make one appointment. 
2. Councilmember Matthews to make one appointment.
3. Councilmember Garcia to make one appointment.
4. Councilmember Spence to make one appointment. 

The Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals consists of seven citizens who meet when necessary. The Board holds hearings on appeals related to applications and interpretation of City building and fire codes. The Board of Appeals has no authority to interpret the administrative provisions of the code, nor is the Board empowered to waive requirements of the code.

The City of Flagstaff is committed to increasing diversity in every board and commission, please consider how the applicant stated they may contribute to this commitment.

There are four (4) applications on file for consideration by the Council as follows:

• Mark Haughwout (current Commissioner)
• Mark Shiery (new applicant)
• Patrick Staskey (new applicant)
• Scott Franz (new applicant)

In an effort to reduce exposure to personal information, the applicant roster and applications will be submitted to the City Council separately.

COUNCIL APPOINTMENT ASSIGNMENT: Councilmembers House, Matthews, Garcia, Spence. 

These are voluntary positions and there is no budgetary impact to the City of Flagstaff.

1. Appoint four Board members: By appointing members at this time, the Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals allows the group to meet and provide recommendations to the City Council.
2. Postpone the action to allow for further discussion or expand the list of candidates.
