Executive Summary:
The Solid Waste Commercial Program uses front load refuse trucks (FEL) daily to collect commercial refuse and recyclable materials. Consistent reliability of these vehicles is necessary to ensure that the Solid Waste program can provide services to City facilities, and privately owned businesses. The Solid Waste Residential Program uses automated side load refuse trucks (ASL) in the daily collection of refuse and recyclable materials from residential homes throughout the City. Per state statute, the City shall facilitate or provide twice-weekly collection of refuse and recyclable materials from our City residents.
The purchase of these trucks has been approved by the Fleet Management Committee and the trucks being replaced meet the City's Fleet Management replacement criteria. The Cooperative Purchase Contract is for three Peterbilt Motor Company refuse trucks from Rush Truck Centers of Arizona (Rush Truck) through the Sourcewell Contract No. 032824. Rush Truck is an authorized vendor of Peterbilt and the equipment warranty and services are supported locally in Flagstaff by Rush Truck.

The commercial program services approximately one thousand customers through the use of Front End Loader refuse trucks. The two (2) Automated Side Loaders and one (1) Front End Loader in this Cooperative Purchase Contract will replace existing units that have met age and mileage requirements for replacement.
