Land   Acknowledgment

The Flagstaff City Council humbly acknowledges the ancestral homelands of this area's Indigenous nations and original stewards. These lands, still inhabited by Native descendants, border mountains sacred to Indigenous peoples. We honor them, their legacies, their traditions, and their continued contributions. We celebrate their past, present, and future generations who will forever know this place as home.

Public Comment

At this time, any member of the public may address the Commission on any subject within their jurisdiction that is not scheduled before the Commission on that day. Due to Open Meeting Laws, the Commission cannot discuss or act on items presented during this portion of the agenda. To address the Commission on an item that is on the agenda, please wait for the Chair to call for Public Comment at the time the item is heard. (Maximum five minutes per individual)

Approval of October 04, 2023 Minutes

Motion to approve Minutes as is or approve with amendments.

Approval of November 08, 2023 Minutes

Motion to approve Minutes as is or approve with amendments.
 
C.
Approval of January 10, 2024 Minutes

Motion to approve Minutes as is or approve with amendments.
 
D.
December 6, 2023 and February 7, 2024 Meetings
Informational only. The Indigenous Commission did not have an official meeting on December 6, 2023 and the time was scheduled for a potluck social gathering. Official discussions were not conducted during this time. A possible quorum notice was posted. A quorum was not achieved for the February 7, 2024 meeting. The meeting was canceled.
 
5.
GENERAL BUSINESS. POSSIBLE VOTE
 
A.
Update on Thorpe Park and the Indigenous Community Cultural Center (ICCC)
 
PROSE staff will provide an update on the work at the Thorpe Park and the current status of the proposed ICCC. The Indigenous Circle of Flagstaff (ICF) will be informed and invited.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
 
A.
  City of Flagstaff,  Open Space Section Request

Sylvia Struss, Coordinator for Open Space Section, will provide a presentation. Open Space will have an interpretive sign for the Pit House Overlook at Picture Canyon. They would like to partner with Indigenous groups to decide what should be on that sign.
