Land  Acknowledgment

The Flagstaff City Council humbly acknowledges the ancestral homelands of this area's Indigenous nations and original stewards. These lands, still inhabited by Native descendants, border mountains sacred to Indigenous peoples. We honor them, their legacies, their traditions, and their continued contributions. We celebrate their past, present, and future generations who will forever know this place as home.

Public Comment

At this time, any member of the public may address the Commission on any subject within their jurisdiction that is not scheduled before the Commission on that day. Due to Open Meeting Laws, the Commission cannot discuss or act on items presented during this portion of the agenda. To address the Commission on an item that is on the agenda, please wait for the Chair to call for Public Comment at the time the item is heard. (Three minutes maximum per individual)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

September and October Minutes will be on the November 06, 2024 agenda.

GENERAL BUSINESS
 
A.
Commissioners Ending Terms

Two commissioners' terms will be ending on December 01, 2024. Discussion on reapplying, associated timeline, and release of recruitment information.
 
6.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
 
A.
Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration

The event agenda will be presented to inform the Commissioners on the activities of the day. There will also be discussion on volunteering for the event and food preparation.
 
B.
Native American Heritage Month (NAHM) Proclamation

Review and provide recommendations/edits to the NAHM proclamation. The proclamation will be read at the City Council meeting on October 22, 2024. If time becomes limited, there will be a need for two volunteers to complete this review. It would be a privilege for members of the Commission to attend the Council meeting during the reading and accept the proclamation. Also ideas on what we can plan for NAHM.
