SUBJECT:
Approval of proposed agreement between St. Lucie County and the City of Fort Pierce for the reimbursement of costs pursuant to the CARES Act.
SUMMARY:
St.. Lucie County has been allocated funds from the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), that were received by the State from the U.S. Department of Treasury through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. In total, St. Lucie County was allocated $55,543,688 related to the community's response and recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic. The initial disbursement from FDEM will be $13,885,922, and the remaining funding of $41,657,766 will be received on a reimbursable basis. All expenses must be deemed eligible under the CARES Act, Treasury Guidance and ultimately approved by the Florida Division of Emergency Management for reimbursement.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the agreement, which has been approved as to form and correctness by the City Attorney contingent upon completion and review of Exhibit D.
ALTERNATIVES:
Staff will proceed as directed by the City Commission.
