SUBJECT:
Approve request to purchase a Ford Transit-350 Cargo Van for the Fort Pierce Police Department in the amount of $69,598.71 with awarded grant funds that requires no match.
SUMMARY:
The Police Department has received discretionary grant funds from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to purchase law enforcement equipment, specifically, a Ford Transit-350 Cargo Van. No match is required. The City Commission approved the grant application and subsequent award at their October 19, 2020 meeting.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends utilized awarded funds for the purchase of the Ford Transit-350 Cargo Van, as approved by FDLE for that purpose.
ALTERNATIVES:
Do not allow staff to purchase the vehicle with awarded funds made available for the targeted purchase allowing funding to lapse.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The City of Fort Pierce was awarded grant funding to enable the purchase of a Ford Transit-350 Cargo Van (no match required). The Department will 'piggyback' on the Charlotte County purchasing contract #: 2018000509 for this purchase from Bartow Ford.
