SUBJECT:
Resolution 21-R61 and Quasi-Judicial Hearing – A hearing to allow the owners and/or parties of interest in the property identified as 435 N 16th Street to show cause why the structure located on the premises should not be condemned and demolished.
SUMMARY:
- January 16, 2020 - Condemnation case initiated due to house fire. Building Department recommended demolition due to fire damage.
- While preparing the Notice of Unsafe Building, a search of public records found the property in foreclosure.
- March 3, 2020 - Notice of Unsafe Building sent to the owner of record plus eight additional parties identified through the foreclosure action.
- March 20, 2020 - Final Judgement of Foreclosure entered and sale pending.
- December 3, 2020 - Order Vacating Final Judgement and canceling foreclosure sale entered.
- July 8, 2021 - As a result of an Owner and Encumbrances Search, two additional parties were notified of condemnation action.
- No contact received by any party.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Commission approve Resolution No. 21-R61 declaring that the structure located at 435 N 16th Street be condemned and demolished in accordance with the Rules of Procedure for Condemnation and Demolition as adopted by the City Commission.
