- Resolution Adopting the Saint Lucie County Local Mitigation Strategy Plan
SUBJECT:
Resolution 21-R60 Adopting the Saint Lucie County Local Mitigation Strategy Plan to remain eligible for FEMA mitigation grant programs.
SUMMARY:
The Saint Lucie County Department of Public Safety prepared and presented the Local Mitigation Strategy Plan to the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), which was approved on August 4, 2021. The Saint Lucie Board of County Commissioners adopted the Plan by Resolution, #21-340, on September 7, 2021. The City of Fort Pierce will be eligible for the following Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mitigation grant programs:
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP)
Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM)
Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA)
In order to be eligible for the aforementioned FEMA mitigation grant programs, the City Commission must adopt the Saint Lucie County Local Mitigation Strategy Plan by Resolution.

RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation is to approve the Saint Lucie County Local Mitigation Strategy Plan by Resolution.
ALTERNATIVES:
The alternative is to decline the adoption of the Saint Lucie County Local Mitigation Strategy Plan causing the City of Fort Pierce to e ineligible for the FEMA mitigation grant programs:

OTHER INFORMATION:
There is no fiscal impact by adopting the St. Lucie County Local Mitigation Strategy Plan. Adoption allows the City to be eligible for funding via mitigation grant programs administered by FEMA.
