SUMMARY:
The Department is requesting approval to enter into a two-year agreement with Flock Safety to provide 26 Automatic License Plate Readers (LPR) not to exceed $146,100.00.
Flock LPR Cameras capture vehicle details needed to track leads and solve crime. The technology allows officers to search by vehicle make, color, type, license plate, state of the license plate, missing plate, covered plate, paper plate, and unique vehicle details like roof racks, and bumper stickers. Officers will also receive real-time alerts, to their browser and cell phone, of any vehicle that passes a Flock camera that is listed as a wanted vehicle or person. For example, Amber Alerts, wanted fugitives, crime vehicles and stolen vehicle alerts will be sent to officers within seconds of the vehicle passing the camera. Additionally, the Department will have access to approximately 150 Flock Automatic License Plate Readers in our surrounding area.
Included in the agreement:
The funding for the project will come from the Restricted Clean and Safe Initiative Fund.
