Request approval of Florida Shared-Use Nonmotorized Trail Grant Agreement for the Highwaymen Trail Gap Segment

SUBJECT:

Resolution 23-R27 approving contract agreement between Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Fort Pierce for the construction of a concrete trail, as a segment of the Florida SUN Trail, along the edge of the Indian Hills Golf Course beginning at Indian Hills Drive and ending at Georgia Avenue which has been fully funded through the grant.

SUMMARY:

This agreement and supporting resolution, is for the construction of a concrete path along the edge of the Indian Hills Golf Course to ultimately be part of the East Coast Greenways Trail
System. The agreement is a result of a grant application made by St. Lucie County and funded 100% by FDOT for a total of $1,200,000, through the Shared-Use Nonmotorized Trail Network Agreement (SUN Trail).

Construction will provide a 12' wide concrete path from Indian Hills Drive running north to Georgia Avenue.  The length of the proposed section is approximately 1.4 miles.
 

RECOMMENDATION:

Engineering recommends approval of contract

Reject agreement and forfeit funds.
