SUBJECT:
Approval of contract award to Gentile Corporation of West Palm Beach in the amount of $20,800.00 for the rehabilitiation of 709 Easter Avenue.
SUMMARY:
For this rehabilitation project, a call for bids went out in February 2015, Bid No. 2015-040, and received no response. Another call for bids went out in June 2015 and Bid No. 2015-044 also received no response due to the complexities of the construction project. Subsequently, City of Fort Pierce staff has acquired a bid from Gentile Corporation of West Palm Beach in the amount of $20,800.00 and Masimo Construction from Loxahatchee in the amount of $21,500. In addition to being the lowest bidder, Gentile has successfully completed several house rehabilitation projects for the City of Fort Pierce within the last two (2) years and has the capability to complete the requested task.
In conformance with the SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP), the City of Fort Pierce may provide Owner-Occupied Housing Repair / Rehabilitation funding through the SHIP program for the upgrading of substandard owner-occupied housing units and to address code violations. The City shall award SHIP owner-occupied repair / rehabilitation assistance to income eligible households on a first come first serve basis. This project will be funded by the 2014-2015 SHIP funds.
