SUBJECT:
Resolution 24-R24 authorizing the execution of a State Funded Grant Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for the improvements along Avenue D from North 29th Street to US 1.
SUMMARY:
The City received a General Appropriations Act award for FY 2023/2024 for the Avenue D Improvements. The grant is for an amount up to $1,500,000.
The project includes the milling and resurfacing of Avenue D from North 29th Street to US 1 and will construct sidewalks on the south side of Avenue D from North 29th Street to North 25th Street. Additional scope elements include installing concrete paver crosswalks and stamped asphalt crosswalks at the intersections along Avenue D. New striping and upgraded signage is included for safety enhancement. Video detection will be added at N 29th St, N 17th St, N 13th St, and N 7th St.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the Resolution and authorizes the City Manager to execute the State Funded Grant Agreement.
ALTERNATIVES:
The City may fund the project using only City funds.
