SUBJECT:

Approval of Interlocal Agreement with St. Lucie County and all local law enforcement agencies for the Public Safety Emergency Communications Center and 911 Board of Governors.

SUMMARY:

Approve for the Mayor's signature the Interlocal Agreement for the Public Safety Emergency Communications Center and 911 Board of Governors.

Saint Lucie County operates and maintains the 911 Communications Center, which provides consolidated emergency communications services to the involved parties. The 911 Communications Center receives all cellular and landline 911 calls, dispatching them to law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services units within and throughout St. Lucie County, Florida, and each municipality, including the City of Fort Pierce. The purpose of this agreement is to guide the established 911 Board of Governors, its structure, roles, and responsibilities.   The 911 Board of Governors represents all the Public Safety Agencies within St. Lucie County. The purpose of the Board is to inform and advise the Saint Lucie County Board of County Commissioners on matters that impact the Saint Lucie County 911 Communications Center and all Public Safety Agencies' emergency communications systems and operations and to develop and implement an effective, coordinated approach aimed at increasing the efficiency in training, technology, and standards of all emergency communications within Saint Lucie County. 

The City Attorney's Office has approved the agreement as to form and correctness.

Approve the agreement.

OTHER INFORMATION:

There is no direct funding necessary for this agreement. The agreement does require the Police Department, and therefore the City, to maintain compatible communication equipment (portable and vehicle radios).
