Approval of the award of the Indian River Drive and Avenue B water main utility construction project to the low bidder, RK Contracting, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $298,913.28; construction funding will be fully reimbursed in accordance with the Florida Job Growth Infrastructure Grant, DEO Grant Agreement No. G0100.

On August 30, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis awarded the City of Fort Pierce a $2.7 million Florida Job Growth Grant to assist with the funding of infrastructure improvements along Indian River Drive, Avenue B, and AE Backus Avenue.  In anticipation of the upcoming Indian River Drive roadway reconstruction project, it is imperative that the utility relocation work be completed prior to commencement of the roadway reconstruction which is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025. 

This specific work includes upsizing the existing 6" water distribution system to an 8" system to include appropriate fire protection appurtenances, water service upgrades, and minor sanitary sewer improvements along Avenue B and Indian River Drive.

FPUA staff has recommended the award of the construction contract to RK Contracting.
