SUBJECT:
Approval of a PAD Mural Program Artist Service Agreement with Jason Tetlak for the mural at 717 Orange Avenue in the amount of $8,000.
SUMMARY:
The Peacock Arts District (PAD) Mural Program has achieved significant success since its inception, revitalizing public spaces with vibrant and culturally enriching artworks. Launched with the aim of beautifying and activating the district, the program has not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also fostered community engagement and economic growth. Additional funding of $50,000 was approved for Fiscal Year 2024 to further enrich the district's artistic landscape.
A Call for Artists was put out in May 2024 and in June, staff reviewed the submissions and presented the mural designs to the property owner. The artist, Jason Tetlak was selected to create a mural at 717 Orange Avenue.
A Call for Artists was put out in May 2024 and in June, staff reviewed the submissions and presented the mural designs to the property owner. The artist, Jason Tetlak was selected to create a mural at 717 Orange Avenue.
The new mural titled "PAD Gateway," created by artist Jason Tetlak, is an innovative and unique piece that stands out due to its creative approach to design. Unlike previous murals, Jason has introduced elements and techniques that haven't been seen in the Peacock Art District before.
The mural serves as a gateway to the Peacock Art District (PAD), welcoming visitors or passersby into the district, setting a tone or creating an atmosphere that aligns with the artistic and cultural identity of the PAD.
As a result, the selected artist agrees to enter into an agreement with the FPRA to proceed with the commencement of the mural.
