Resolution 24-R46 Recognizing the portion of North 14th Street lying between Avenue Q and Orange Avenue as "Lillian P. Owens Street (North 14th Street)".

The City initiated a call for nominations to rename North 14th Street on October 31, 2023. Lenard Owens, a Fort Pierce resident, submitted a nomination form proposing to rename North 14th Street in honor of his mother, Lillian P. Owens. Due to the nomination form being incomplete, the applicant resubmitted his nomination. His nomination highlights that Ms. Owens, a long-time resident who passed away at 100 years old earlier this year, made significant contributions to the Fort Pierce and Lincoln Park community economically, socially and historically. Following a review by the Parks Advisory Committee on June 20, 2024, a recommendation was made to rename North 14th Street to recognize Lillian P. Owens. On July 15, 2024, the City Commission approved the dual-street designation, renaming the section of North 14th Street from Avenue Q to Orange Avenue as "Lillian P. Owens Street (North 14th Street)".

Staff recommends approval of the resolution. 

Staff will proceed as directed by the City Commission.
