SUBJECT:
SUMMARY:
The city-owned surplus property located at 133 N 10th Street was sold to John D. Bess & Brenda V. Smith for $13,100.00 on March 29, 2022. The deed included a requirement for the grantees to commence improvements within twenty-four (24) months.
Initially, the grantees requested a 120-day extension at the April 1, 2024, City Commission meeting to meet this requirement, setting a new deadline of July 30, 2024. Unfortunately, this deadline was not met.
On July 15, 2024, the permit for a new modular single-family home on the property was approved, with fees paid on August 21, 2024. The contractor is now approved to begin construction and anticipates pouring the foundation during the week of September 16, 2024.
John D. Bess and Brenda V. Smith are now requesting an additional 60-day extension to commence improvements, with a proposed new deadline of November 16, 2024.
