Resolution 25-R47 is for the approval of the lease renewal between the City of Fort Pierce and the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida for the Submerged lands of the Fort Pierce City Marina Islands.

The City of Fort Pierce, Florida, as Lessee, entered into a Sovereignty Submerged Lands Fee Waived Lease with the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida, as Lessor, on July 16, 2009. The lease pertains to a parcel of sovereignty submerged land in the Indian River Lagoon, St. Lucie County, encompassing approximately 916,768 square feet.

The lease was originally established to authorize the construction and operation of a pilot project storm protection island system, consisting of 12 islands and one peninsular structure. This system was intended to provide storm protection in conjunction with the adjacent upland 269-slip public Marina.

The original lease term effective dates were October 23, 2009–October 23, 2014. The first renewal term dates were October 23, 2014 – October 23, 2019.  The second renewal lease term dates were October 23, 2019 – October 23, 2024.  The proposed third renewal lease is for term dates October 23, 2024 – October 23, 2029.

Staff recommends the adoption of the resolution lease renewal between the City of Fort Pierce and the Board of Trustees of the Internal Trust Fund of the State of Florida.

Staff will proceed as directed by the Commission.
