Review and approve CRA Advisory Committee Recommendation for Commercial Facade Grant Application for 108 S 2nd Street in the amount of $7,934.50 - Galleria at Downtown Fort Pierce, LLC

SUMMARY:

The CRA Advisory Committee has completed its evaluation of the latest round of Commercial Façade Grant Program applications. This program is designed to eliminate blight and improve the visual appearance of properties within the FPRA district, encouraging private reinvestment, economic development, and job creation. It provides 50% matching grants, up to $25,000, for eligible exterior improvements.

In this round, six committee members evaluated the submitted applications, with a maximum possible score of 600 points per application.
Project Description:
Proposed improvements at 108 S 2nd Street owned by Galleria at Downtown Fort Pierce, LLC Install a hurricane impact glass door and window set at the alcove entrance and replace two second-story windows with impact glass. 

Score:
108 S 2nd St received a score of 332 out of 600 (55%). 

This action represents the initial step in the grant award process. If the Board approves the Committee’s recommendation, staff will draft a grant agreement for Galleria at Downtown Fort Pierce, LLC., to be presented at a future FPRA Board meeting for final approval.

Staff anticipates additional applications will be submitted before the August 15, 2025, deadline. These will be evaluated in a subsequent review cycle.

FPRA REDEVELOPMENT PLAN GOAL/POLICY

Goal 7 = The Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency shall increase private sector investment and business development within the Community Redevelopment Area.
Goal 9 - The Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency shall support small businesses, start-up businesses and support entrepreneurial activity within the Redevelopment Area.

RECOMMENDATION:

Review CRA Advisory Committee's recommendation and award grant to 108 S 2nd St in the amount of $7,934.50

ALTERNATIVES:

Deny or conditionally approve the application.
