SUBJECT:
Approval to submit and accept the U.S. Department of Justice Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant 2014-2015 with a total project cost of $40,000.
SUMMARY:
The police department requests approval to submit and accept the 2014-2015 Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in the amount of $40,000. The U.S. DOJ will provide 50% funding for bullet resistant armor for police officers. There is a 50% local match requirement. Grant funds may only be used on vest makes and models approved by the National Institute of Justice.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the request.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The total project cost is $40,000 which includes grant funding of $20,000 and a local cash match not to exceed $20,000. the FY 2015 budget has not been approved, therefore, the cash match has not yet been budgeted. However, the police department has included this project in its grant budget for several years - no additional new funding is required.
