Selection of Mayor Pro Tem pursuant to Section 23 of the City Charter which requires the City Commission to select one (1) of their number as Mayor Pro Tem at the first regular meeting following January 1.

The individual elected shall act as mayor-commissioner and have all of the powers and duties of that office during the absence or disability of the said mayor-commissioner.

The following have served as Mayor Pro Tem:

2025 Commissioner C. Johnson, Seat 3
2024 Commissioner Broderick, Seat 4
2023 Commissioner Gaines, Seat 5
2022 Commissioner J. Johnson, Seat 2




 

Using the traditional rotation, Seat 2, would be the next in line to serve as Mayor Pro Tem; however, since that seat is vacant, I recommend that we move to the next seat in the rotation which would be Commissioner Arnold Gaines, Seat 5.
