Approval for the Mayor to Sign the Tree City USA Application
SUMMARY:
For the past 35 years, the City has proudly maintained the prestigious Tree City USA designation through the Arbor Day Foundation, marking this achievement with a ceremonial tree planting.
The Tree City USA designation recognizes cities and towns that demonstrate a commitment to effective urban forest management through maintaining a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a forestry budget, and an annual Arbor Day observance.
As we seek the 36th-year designation, an application must be submitted, which requires the Mayor's signature.
City staff respectfully requests the Mayor's signature to facilitate the submission of the application for review and approval.
To commemorate the 36th designation, the City will celebrate during Arbor Day, tentatively scheduled for April 24, 2026, which coincides with National Arbor Day. Further details will be provided later.
