SUBJECT:

Approval to award a piggyback contract to Playmore West, Inc. (Fort Myers, FL) for the Moore’s Creek Fit Park Project. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds will be utilized for the installation of adult and children's exercise equipment and a playground structure at a total cost not to exceed $629,711.08.

SUMMARY:

The Agreement is between the City of Fort Pierce ("City") and Playmore West, Inc. ("Contractor") for the furnishing and installation of playground, fitness, shade, site furnishings, and related improvements at Moore’s Creek Linear Park, located at 10th Street and Avenue C.

Funding for this project is provided through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The Moore’s Creek Fit Park Improvement Project will enhance recreational opportunities for residents through the installation of adult and children's fitness and playground equipment, shade structures, benches, trash receptacles, safety surfacing, and related site improvements.

The scope of work includes:

• Supply and delivery of ExoFit outdoor fitness equipment and shade structures;
• Installation of ExoFit outdoor fitness equipment;
• Installation of shade structures;
• Installation of surface-mounted benches and trash receptacles;
• Supply and installation of a new playground structure;
• Supply and installation of swing equipment;
• Installation of engineered wood fiber safety surfacing within the playground area;
• Installation of engineered wood fiber safety surfacing and a 12-inch border timber within the swing area; and
• Installation of direct-bury benches and trash receptacles.
The total project cost shall not exceed $629,711.08.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of the Piggyback Contract with Playmore West, Inc. for the Moore’s Creek Fit Park Improvement Project, including the provision of materials, equipment, labor, coordination, and installation services, in an amount not to exceed $629,711.08 utilizing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

ALTERNATIVES:

Staff will proceed as directed by the City Commission.
