SUBJECT:
Approval of emergency repairs to parking garage elevators by Kone, Inc., in the amount of $21,695.23.
SUMMARY:
The parking garage elevators have experienced ongoing maintenance issues due to design flaws in the original construction resulting in water intrusion into sensitive electrical components. The intrusion deficiencies have been addressed and the water damaged circuits now must be replaced to ensure safe and efficient operation of all three elevators. KONE Inc. is the original equipment provider for the elevators.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Public Works Department is recommending approval of the emergency repairs to the parking garage elevators. The safety of the public is of utmost importance and the requested repairs are needed to ensure proper operation. KONE Inc. is the original equipment provider and is being recommended as the sole source vendor.
