SUBJECT:
Approve request to submit and accept an award for the 2017-2018 VOCA Victim's Advocacy grant by the Fort Pierce Police Department.
SUMMARY:
The Fort Pierce Police Department requests approval to submit for and accept an award for the 2017-2018 VOCA Victim's Advocacy grant. This is an award the Police Department has received for the past several years, and it allows for a full time Victim's Advocate to be part of the FPPD staff, and respond directly to the victims of various types of crime.
The VOCA award is given by the Florida Department of Legal Affairs and the Office of the Attourney General. This years budget will provide salary and benefits that are not to exceed $55,000, and will require a match from the general fund that is not to exceed $17,000.
VOCA funds will cover 75% of the grant budget, and the City match will cover the remaining 25%.

The recommendation is that this request is approved and the VOCA application is submitted and accepted.
