Resolution 17-R10 Authorizing the purchase of South Depot Drive in the amount of $30,000.00.

Staff seeks approval to execute a purchase agreement for real property located to the east of the FEC tracks, south of Orange Avenue an area commonly known as "South Depot Drive".  This area is utilized primarily for parking for both the Sunrise Theater and downtown businesses.   Years ago,  the City was able to purchase North Depot Drive but it was an expensive acquisition. About two years ago, a representative of Flagler Development Corporation  (FDC) reached out to us regarding several available properties. The FPRA was able to reach agreement on a segment north of Avenue A that will enhance the Moore's Creek linear park connectivity, however, we were not able to reach an agreement on price for South Depot Drive. However, FDC has continued negotiations in good faith and has made us a very attractive offer.  

This would resolve a long standing issue in which the City has utilized the FEC property for decades, providing much needed parking for Sunrise theater as well as downtown merchants.
