SUBJECT:

Permission to submit grant application and receive grant award from Children Services Council of St. Lucie County to help fund 3rd Annual Summer Jam Basketball Camp.

SUMMARY:

The Dept of Urban Redevelopment is seeking to expand our annual Summer Jam Basketball Camp at the Percy Peek gym. This grant application to the Children's Services Council and our partnership with Treasure Coast Food Bank will help offset costs associated with expanding this free summer program.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the submittal of the grant application and receipt of the grant award from the Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County for the 2017 Summer Jam Basketball Camp.

ALTERNATIVES:

Do not approve the submittal of the grant application or receipt of the grant award.

This expenditure will be reimbursed to the City via:
- $10,000 allocated for 2017 Summer Jam Basketball Camp - 2016-2017 CDBG Action Plan
- $3,100 left over from funds allocated for 2016 Summer Jam Basketball Camp in 2015-2016 CDBG Action Plan
- $1,500 Public Service grant funds not expended for program year 2015
- $2,500 allocated for summer camp scholarships from Fort Pierce Authentic Tours Program by FPAT Advisory Board
