North Causeway Bridge Observation Deck - Resolution of Support to FDOT

SUBJECT:

Resolution 17-R42 to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) showing the City Commission's support for the inclusion of an observation deck into the design and construction of the North Causeway Bridge Replacement project.

SUMMARY:

A request for the City Commission to show support to the FDOT for construction of a observation deck to be constructed beneath, and concurrently, with the construction of the new North Causeway Bridge.  Construction costs would be at the expense of FDOT with maintenance obligations the responsibility of the City.   

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval

ALTERNATIVES:

Withdraw support of the observation deck and have FDOT proceed with the bridge replacement only.
