SUBJECT:
Veterans Memorial Park design and construction update.
SUMMARY:
The construction of the Phase I improvements is underway. This construction includes ADA upgrades to the bathroom facilities along with the addition of store front doors along the east wall of the eastern conference room, addition of a brick patio area which will connect to the Riverwalk sidewalk, utility relocations and construction of a bio-swale. This work is funded through a CDBG Disaster Grant as administered by St. Lucie County. Project completion is scheduled for November 2014.
Phase II construction will entail drainage improvements to the site as funded by a 319 and TMDL Grant. These improvements include the construction of three (3) bio-swales with plantings, two control structures at the existing outfalls, 0.5 acre deep cell lake, aeration fountains, pervious paver sidewalks and parking areas, an equalizing culvert with pedestrian cross-over and landscaping. In addition to these grant funded improvements, the project will also include a memorial wall a memorial plaza area with lighted armed forces flags, a brick paver memorial walkway, grass plaza area, and Anita Prentice benches.
We have received the TMDL Grant and are awaiting receipt of the 319 Grant, expected November 2014. Upon execution of the 319 Grant we will advertise for construction bids and then proceed with construction.
