SUBJECT:

Approval of a request to reduce code enforcement lien in the amount of $37,540.00 against 1510 Cornado Avenue, Ft. Pierce, FL 34982 - Parcel ID #2421-512-0011-000-1 owned by Maria Macias, 1510 Coronado Avenue, Ft. Pierce, FL 34982 to $750.00 and to pay the $250.00 City Commission administrative fee payable in 60 days.

SUMMARY:

  • The requestor is the property owner and she is responsible for the accumulation of fines. 
  • Ms. Macias did not receive the original notices due to the incorrect address being on file at the property appraiser's office.  
  • She learned of the violations when a tenant gave her a notice in May of this year and promptly corrected the violations.
  • Her intentions for the property is to continue as a rental property.
  • She requested the fines be waived in full.

RECOMMENDATION:

The Special Magistrate heard the property owner's request and recommends to the City Commission to reduce the lien to $750.00. In addition, she recommends the City Commission impose the $250.00 administrative fee for a total of $1,000 payable in 60 days.

Deny the request.
Make alternative recommendations.
