SUBJECT:
Approval of Brothers' Construction Specific Authorization No. 1 (Ref. Bid No. 2018-014 Marine Contracting Services) in the amount of $1,086,000 for the design-build of a new seawall and sidewalk along a portion of Melody Lane.
SUMMARY:
In 2017 Hurricane Irma caused significant damage to the existing seawall and pedestrian sidewalk situated along Melody Lane. The project has been tentatively approved by FEMA for 75% reimbursement for the reconstruction of 510 LF of seawall and adjacent sidewalk. The new seawall will extend from Marina Square at Orange Avenue south 510 LF to a point 200 LF north of the Melody Lane Fishing Pier.

Approval
ALTERNATIVES:
Deny and proceed with request for bid solicitations. However, staff does not support this option due to the FEMA funding time constraints specifying construction completion by March 2020.
