Approval to terminate Lease Agreement with the Fort Pierce Housing Authority for the Williams Center, 3014 Avenue J, Fort Pierce, Florida that was utilized as a sub-station by the Fort Pierce Police Department.

On July 24, 2015, the City of Fort Pierce entered into a Lease Agreement with the Fort Pierce Housing Authority for the Williams Center, 3014 Avenue J, Fort Pierce, Florida to be used as a sub-station by the Fort Pierce Police Department.  The agreement is a ten (10) year Lease Agreement.  The rental of the property is $1.00 to be paid annually.  The police department requests approval to terminate the Lease Agreement.
 
The Williams Center opened in 2014 and is the home for the Boys and Girls Club.  In partnership with the Fort Pierce Housing Authority and the Boys and Girls Club, the police department opened a sub-station within the Williams Center for the Crime Prevention Unit. In order to enhance departmental communication, provide for better oversight and accountability, and provide better customer service to our citizens, the police department will consolidate all of their specialized units to either the main station on US # 1 or the Willie B. Ellis Substation on Avenue D. 

This is a mutual agreement between the Housing Authority and the Police Department to end the agreement. The Housing Authority will use the area to house additional staffing.

The police department recommends approval of terminating the Lease Agreement. 

There is no alternative.
