SUBJECT:

Ordinance 17-008 - Extending the territorial limits of the City of Fort Pierce, Florida to include property located at 2498 Edwards Road. SECOND READING

SUMMARY:

  • The applicant is requesting a voluntary annexation of the property (Parcel ID 2421-333-0001-000-9) located at 2498 Edwards Road, which is at the northeast corner of Edwards Road and 25th Street.
  • The property is located within unincorporated St. Lucie County and is contiguous to the Fort Pierce City municipal boundary. The property is also within the FPUA service area.
  • The proposed voluntary annexation is consistent with F.S 171.044, whereas the property is contiguous to a municipality and reasonably compact; and the annexation will not result in the creation of an enclave.
  • St. Lucie County has been notified of the annexation request and the advancement of this action to Ordinance.
  • The Planning Board, at their October 11th, 2016 meeting, voted unanimously to recommend approval of the request.

OTHER INFORMATION:

If the City approves annexation of this parcel with a taxable value of $196,100, the approximate ad-valorem tax revenue annually to the City of Fort Pierce, is $1,290 depending on the millage rate per year, which currently is 6.5786.
