Approve the Police Department's request to purchase one (1) 2016 Ford Interceptor Utility (demo unit) from Bartow Ford in the amount not to exceed $29,572.00 pursuant to Bid # 2015000418. 

The Police Department requests approval to purchase a 2016 Ford Interceptor Utility vehicle. This vehicle is a Sales Demo Unit, which currently has approximately 14,000 miles on the odometer. As this vehicle is a demo unit, it is already outfitted with all the emergency equipment that are utilized by the Police Department such as lights and sirens.  Purchasing the demo unit with this emergency equipment will ultimately be a considerable cost savings to the Police Department, approximately $10,000.

This purchase is necessary to replace a current vehicle within the Police Department's fleet that has extremely high mileage and high maintenance/repair costs.  This purchase will help to improve the Police Department's fleet's efficiency.  Funding for this purchase will come from the Fort Pierce Police Off-Duty Detail Association. 

Staff recommends approval of this purchase request. 

The alternative is to deny approval of this purchase request.
