SUBJECT:
Approval to submit and accept a grant from the Department of Justice, Edward Byrne Memorial, Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) for funding in the amount of $32,942 by the Police Department.
SUMMARY:
| The Department of Justice has set aside $98,828 to be divided equally between the Fort Pierce Police Department, City of Port St. Lucie, and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. These grant funds are overseen and managed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The JAG Program supports law enforcement efforts in preventing or reducing crime and violence. The Police Department intends to use this funding towards the Gang Abatement and Reduction - Crime Analyst position. |
RECOMMENDATION:
The FPPD recommendation is that this request be approved.
ALTERNATIVES:
If denied, provide direction on alternate pathways to securing funding for the postion in question.
