SUBJECT:
Legislative Hearing - Ordinance 18-014 amending Chapter 2, Article IV, Sections 2-63a, 2-63(c)(10), and 2-65(c) "Increasing the Purchasing Threshold of City Manager." SECOND READING
SUMMARY:
As the cost of goods and services has increased our approval level has remained unchanged. Consequently, small purchases with fund allocations that have been approved during the budget process are being submitted for Commission approval and duplicating the procurement approval process. Currently all purchases $10,000 and above have to approved by City Commission. To help streamline our process and help us better serve our customers, it is recommended that we amend the purchasing authorization level form $10,000 to $50,000, with the authorization approval for all purchases from $10,000 to $50,000 at the City Manager.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval.
ALTERNATIVES:
Deny the request and adjust to a lessor amount or keep the Threshold as it currently is.
