SUBJECT:
Resolution No. 18-R40 and Quasi-Judicial Hearing – A hearing to allow the owners and/or parties of interest in the property identified as 427 N 14th Street - Left Front Unit AKA Building #2 to show cause why the structure located on the premises should not be condemned and demolished.
SUMMARY:
- Original condemnation was initiated in 2008 by then Building Official Marc Meyers. No action was taken by the owners in response to this condemnation.
- In January, 2018, a new Property Maintenance Inspection Report was completed by Building Department Investigator, Shaun Coss, who stated the building is unsafe and recommends the property be demolished.
- On March 26, 2018 staff was contacted by the owner who stated that he intended to make the necessary repairs. An extension of time was granted.
- On May 1, 2018 the owner stated that permits would be submitted that week and an additional extension was granted.
- To date, no action has been taken by the owner to rehabiliate the property.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Commission approve Resolution No. 18-R40 declaring that the structure located at 427 N 14th Street - Left Front Unit AKA Building #2 be condemned and demolished in accordance with the Rules of Procedure for Condemnation and Demolition as adopted by the City Commission.
