SUBJECT:
Approval to submit and accept the VOCA 2018-2019 Victims Advocacy Grant in an amount not to exceed $75,000.00.
SUMMARY:
The FPPD would like approval to submit for and accept the 2018-2019 VOCA grant award. The VOCA program is a victim's advocacy program the FPPD has executed over the past several years. An employee is assigned to respond to victims of all types, provide assistance to the victim(s), and take steps to assure prosecution. This years applications request an additional victim's advocate that would allow the FPPD to expand its Victims Advocacy services. The FPPD is seeking approval to apply for an award not to exceed $75,000.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation is approval be given for this submission and award acceptance. If denied, please provide guidance to achieve expanded Victim Advocate services.
ALTERNATIVES:
Approval could be declined and directives given as to how the FPPD could go about securing funding for the two positions from other sources.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The VOCA award application and acceptance does not have a fiscal impact as it does not require actual budget from the general fund. The VOCA award requires an in-kind match oif approx. $19,500, which will be in the form of the time committted by back-up personnel assigned to the project. This is the same type of approved in-kind match that has been executed in previous years.
