Approval to piggyback the Florida Sheriff's Association Contract No. FSA18-HEH16.0 (Bid award period 10/01/18 through 9/30/19), Specification No. 82, for the purchase of a aquatic weedcutter workboat to remove vegetation from canals and lakes, from Weedoo Greenboat, Inc., West Palm Beach, FL, in an amount not to exceed $74,100.00.

The Stormwater Utility is requesting approval to purchase a workboat designed specifically for aquatic weed removal.  The workboat is equipped with a hydraulic front loader for removal of floating vegetation and a boom cutter capable of full articulation to cut 5' below the waterline.  The machine will be used to maintain the aquatic vegetation particularly in Moore's Creek, the Virginia Avenue Outfall Canal and the Indian Hills Recreation area.  Removal of this vegetation is another tool used to remove excess nutrients from our waterbodies prior to discharging to the Indian River Lagoon.

The Purchasing Division has reviewed and investigated the procurement process for this item and found all terms and conditions meet the piggyback requirements of the City of Fort Pierce.

Engineering recommends approval.
