SUBJECT:
Legislative Hearing - Ordinance 19-006 creating Chapter 5, Article V "Workforce Housing Program". FIRST READING
SUMMARY:
This ordinance would establish a workforce housing program ordinance to regulate the infill of affordable residential housing. The ordinance also allows for the City to enter into an agreement with a Community Land Trust, which would oversee the establishment of affordable workforce housing that would remain affordable into perpetuity. In addition, the Community Land Trust would revitalize lower income neighborhoods by introducing new construction, enabling pride of homeownership, and increasing the affordable housing options for the citizens of Fort Pierce.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of Ordinance 19-006 "Workforce Housing Program," which creates Chaper 5, Article V "Workforce Housing Program".
ALTERNATIVES:
Do not approve the ordinance at this time.
