SUBJECT:
Submittal of Applications for Appointment/Reappointment to serve as regular and alternate members for the City Commission on the Civil Service Appeals Board.
SUMMARY:
The City Commission is requested to appoint / reappoint the City Commission representative member and alternate member to the Civil Service Appeals Board (CSAB). The vacancies which need to be filled are:
Regular Commission Appointed Board Members - (2) to replace or for the reappointment of:
Christine Taylor - Term expires 07/31/2019; and
J.W. Gaines - Term expired
Alternate Commission Appointed Board Members - (2) to replace or for the reappointment of:
Ed Cox - Term expires 07/31/2019; and
Pearl Liverpool Davis - Term expired
Per City Charter Article VII, Section 82 - Civil service appeals board created:
The two (2) members named by the City Commission... shall serve for a term or a period of two (2) years except the first member apointed by the city and the first member appointed by the employees shall serve for a term of only one year, but thereafter all terms of members of the board shall be for two (2) years.
The remainder of the vacancies are to be filled by employee elections and the CSAB.

RECOMMENDATION:
The Applications for Appointment / Reappointment to the CSAB are being submitted for consideration by the City Commission at this time. Appointment of the candidates will take place at the Regular City Commission Meeting to be held on July 15, 2019.
ALTERNATIVES:
Staff will proceed as directed by the City Commission.
